WHAT'S INCLUDED WITH YOUR MONTHLY BOOKKEEPING SERVICES?
I take care of categorizing your downloaded transactions, reconciling your accounts and matching your receipts to transactions, and closing the books each month. Clients will be responsible for their own invoicing and accounts receivables unless we make additional arrangements. Each month or quarter, we’ll meet to go over your reports so you understand your numbers. We’ll also evaluate your numbers and talk about ways to meet your short and long-term financial goals. Monthly packages include subscription fees for QuickBooks Online and Veryfi.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR SERVICES?
During the evaluation period, I’ll be looking at the average number of monthly transactions, the number of bank, credit card, and loan accounts you have, and whether your books will need to be caught up (information not yet entered) or cleaned up (data that is already in your QuickBooks that has to be corrected). The quote you receive will include the proposed monthly fee for bookkeeping and our monthly or quarterly meeting, a one-time setup fee, and a quote for a one-time clean/catch up fee to get your books current. Cleanup costs often catch business owners by surprise, and payment plans can be arranged since cleanup can take weeks or months, depending on how far behind your books are.
HOW MUCH INFORMATION WILL YOU NEED FROM ME?
In first month or two, you will need to provide me with a lot of information like tax returns, banks statements, copies of open invoices and current bills. In most cases, bank transactions can be set up to download automatically. We can work together to set up systems to capture your receipt copies and fetch bank statements automatically. As I learn your business and about your monthly expenses, I’ll have fewer questions to ask you during the month aside from clarification on expenses from new vendors. In general, clients will take care of their own invoicing, either through QuickBooks or a 3rd party software. They will also take care of paying their own bills.
WHAT SOFTWARE DO YOU USE FOR BOOKKEEPING?
I only use QuickBooks Online. If you are using QuickBooks Desktop and are open to switching to QBO, we can migrate you over. For any other software such as QuickBooks Self-Employed, Wave Accounting, FreshBooks, Xero, invoicing through a CRM, or even an Excel spreadsheet, you’d have to be willing to switch over to QuickBooks Online to work with me.
CAN I JUST PAY YOU FOR BOOKKEEPING SERVICES AND NOT CLEANUP?
If your books are not up to date because there is missing information from prior months or existing data in your QuickBooks file needs to be corrected, you simply will not have accurate records, which will need to be corrected by your tax professional at tax time and very likely at a higher rate. For this reason, to use my services, clean-up of your books is required, not optional.
HOW DOES IT WORK IF I ALREADY USE QUICKBOOKS ONLINE SOFTWARE?
You will set me up to have access as your bookkeeper, and I once I’m connected, I will access your file using the Accountant’s version of QuickBooks. I will not need your login or a username to access your QuickBooks file.
DO YOU OFFER TAX ADVICE AND FILING SERVICES?
Yes. I became a Certified Tax Coach and also an Enrolled Agent with the IRS to provide you with tax services and advanced tax planning. I am experienced with preparation fo tax return for businesses and for individuals. We can work together to develop a tax plan that will help you reduce your taxes to the minimum possible legal amount.
